Brian returns from his Summer Hiatus this evening and also returns to the bittersweet and chalk stripe tie of 13 July. Oh, how I find myself conflicted by this cravat! I am drawn to its rich colouration, like a warm harvest pumpkin soup with a swirl of thick sour cream spiked with cardamom. But when the Nightly's cameraperson pulls back for the wide shot, and I see not just the impeccable dimple and knot, but how the orange muddies up Brian's tanned complexion, all I can think of is Orange Creme Savers hard candy. Certainly, both comestibles have their place, but they are hardly...interchangeable.
